Land For Sale – Investment/Hunting

My family has 40 acres for sale in Fayette County, IL.  The ground is located about 2 miles west of Hagarstown off Highway 140.  The legal description would be the northeast quarter of the northwest quarter of section 33 Bear Grove Township.

There are 32 tillable acres, 8 of these acres are currently farmed.  The remaining 24 tillable acres have been in the CRP tree program for 29 years.  The current contract is valid until 2020 and pays around $1,900 annually.  The 8 acres of tillable ground could be cash rented for $160/acre.

The remaining 8 acres is in timber mixed among fencerows and the hillside on the south end of the property.

This is a great piece of property for someone looking for some ground and who also likes to deer hunt.  Lots of deer on this property, the thick growth from the tree program and timber edges has made this a nice sanctuary.  We have taken some nice deer off this property and some incredible sheds.  Check out the pics below.

Incredible investment at $3,500/acre.   Call me with any questions  618 292 8680

Hunting Field Series – The Tinkerfarm Field

Our Hunting Field Series is designed to show you all the possible fields that are available at Sandy Run Hunt Co. for your next upland bird hunt.  The second in this series highlights the Tinkerfarm Field.  This 120 acre plot is a great place for a “just like old times” quail hunt with prairie-lined fencerows, timber and prairie fields.

Karey, Blake, Blaze and Dean Pheasant and Chukar Hunt

courson 3 9 14 1Karey Courson brought out her two boys, Blake and Blaze along with her Brittney Spaniel, Belle for a pheasant and chukar hunt.   Grandpa, Dean Devall came to help with his labs, Gunner and Peaches.   The boys and dogs had a great time while Sandy Devall joined in to take plenty of pictures of the action.

2014 Youth Pheasant Hunt

Sandy Run Hunt Co. and the Cumberland Chapter of the Quail and Upland Game Alliance held their annual Youth Pheasant Hunt on January 25th.  Thirty young hunters got a chance to hunt for a couple of pheasant on a cold, blustery day.  With wind gusts over 30mph the pheasants did not cooperate for everyone, but most hunters got an opportunity if not a pheasant or two to take home.  There was plenty of clay target shooting, with over 500 targets shot at over the frozen ponds.   Congratulations to Chase Horn, he won the drawing for a pheasant mount donated by Freedom Taxidermy.

Check out the video below to see all the fun.

Thanks to all the parents and friends who took the time to bring out the kids.  Thanks for letting them have the opportunity to enjoy and learn from a day out in the field.  I appreciate all the time and effort of the guides and their dogs which helped to make each hunters’ experience memorable.

I would also like to thank the Cumberland Chapter of the Quail and Upland Game Alliance for all their help and donations, Midwest Target Co.  Litchfield, for providing the clay pigeons, Buchheit of Greenville for providing some of the prizes, County Market of Vandalia for their donation of hotdogs and buns, Freedom Taxidermy of Vandalia for donating a pheasant mount, Ritchey Painting of Vandalia for their donation of the use of an UTV.

2014 Youth Pheasant Hunt Coming Up!

If you know a kid that would like to go hunting, I have a great opportunity for you.  On January 25th from 9 to 4, we will be holding a Youth Pheasant Hunt in conjunction with the Cumberland Chapter of the Quail and Upland Game Alliance.

Each child goes to the field with a guide and dogs and hunt for 2 pheasants.  Before they go hunting they get a door prize and do some wingshooting practice on clay pigeons.  After the hunt there is chili, hotdogs and hot chocolate to warm up.

The kids have a great time and get all of that for only $25.

Reservations are required and space is limited so call me to get the time that you desire, 618 292 8680.

Bring out your own children, grandkids, nephews, nieces or neighbors kids.  Help us introduce them into the fun of upland bird hunting.

Thanks, Bill

P.S.  If you have some good dogs and would like to guide some kids on the hunt let me know.
