Welcome to the Sandy Run Hunt Co. Whitetail Deer Hunting Page Sandy Run Hunt Co. proudly offers several Fayette County hunting areas for whitetail bow hunting. One of our properties includes what the Illinois Natural History Survey has called "the largest virgin timber in Southern Illinois". All of the deer shown on this site were harvested in Fayette County, which consistently is one of the top deer hunting counties in Illinois. Check out our photos page for aerial photos of our properties and some nice racks, some on the wall, some still on the hoof. We will be offering a very limited number of
combination and firearm hunts this year. These hunts will be on property
other than our archery only ground. Please contact for specifics and
pricing, (618) 283-8792. What a season we had in 2007! Guided hunts with pre-hung stands made a for some great hunts. The addition of adding our lodging and clubhouse made for a great hunting experience.
In 2007: 16 of 18 hunters (88%) saw trophy deer while in the field 12 of 18 hunters (67%) had shooting opportunities at trophy bucks 9 of 18 hunters (50%) took shots at shooter bucks 4 of 18 hunters (22%) took home a trophy whitetail buck. Deer scored from 164 to 126 (unofficially)
The Sandy Run Trophy Whitetail
Hunt: We will have stands set out in pre-scouted locations, guides will take you to and from stands and handle deer recovery and dressing. Come in the evening before your hunt starts for a little afternoon scouting, have dinner and be ready to start your hunt in the morning. The ground for these hunts include our Sonnemann Woods farm, with 560 acres of archery only property. The remainder of the properties are prime locations throughout Fayette County all with in 30 minutes of our lodge. Our lodging consists of a large clubhouse with kitchen, TV, fireplace, internet and computer access, dining area, individual sleeping rooms, and three restroom and shower rooms. These are fair chase hunts for free ranging whitetail deer. In our continuing effort to maintain
an abundance of trophy deer, we ask hunters to take only 1 buck with a minimum
rack size of 125 inches. We will also be happy to assist you in finding local processors and taxidermists

rack size limitations. December and January hunts are also available: $150/day Reservations: Just give Bill a call at 618-283-8792 to let us reserve a spot for you for the 2008 archery season. Half of the hunt cost is due within 10 days of making a reservation, with the remainder payable two weeks before your hunt. Hunters are responsible for obtaining their hunting permits and license.
Application for permits will be available no later than June 2008, through the
Illinois Department of Natural Resources website. Hunters are required to have an archery tag, 5 day hunting license, and habitat stamp.
There are 25,000 Non-resident Bow Hunting Tags available in 2008,
7,500 have been reserved for outfitters. You can purchase one of these
tags, which can only be used on the property under our outfitters license #
