Jim and Michael Geiger came out for their annual quail hunt. Greg Ireland and Daisy did the guiding for the quail coveys stashed around the Cabin Field. Some good rises and good shots as well as some singles in the timber. Really nice late season quail hunt.
I have two male, tri-color, English Setter Pups available for sale. Excellent breeding, Ava, the dam from my kennel and Homestead Jack from Jeff Marshall’s kennels. The pups just got back with Jeff from his training trip to North Dakota. They were whelped on 6 18 18 so are now in their eleventh week. I have already sold their brother, Bo, so I don’t think these well-bred, tricolors will be here long.
Check out the pics with pigeons and in the clubhouse. They should be hunting well before the preserve season ends in April. Asking $400 each, call, text or email.
Darrin Peters set up an upland bird hunt for his buddy Aaron Baillie. Jeff Powell brought out his collage of bird dogs to find the pheasant, chukar and quail scattered around the Clubhouse Field. Lots of action in this video, some good dog work and nice wingshooting.
Larry Jones brought out his friend Derek McWhorter for his first quail hunt. Larry’s dogs, Ike and King did a nice job pointing the first covey and Derek knocked down two on his first covey rise. I only caught that first covey on camera, but they had a good time cleaning up the South Tinkerfarm Field.
Kevin Diekroeger brought out his wirehair, Ina and setter, Penny to hunt some quail. I set out some coveys on the west edge of the Clubhouse Field. We had some nice covey rises, with Kevin getting a couple of doubles and me knocking down a few singles. Then into the treelines and timber to track down the birds that flew away.
Chuck Shane set up a pheasant and chukar hunt for some of his buddies, Justin Schwigen, Greg Rosko and Bill Gooch. Jeff Powell guided them in the North Tinkerfarm chasing the big birds around the prairie edges and milo strips. The dogs and the hunters did a nice job coming back with all their birds.
Dan Crunk came out with his friend Cletus Roy to work some dogs over quail in the Cabin Field. I made it out to watch and help out a bit as Dan worked one of his trial dogs, getting her steady to wing and shot.
Brett Reed came out for a pheasant hunt with a few of his buddies on a very wet February morning. They split into a couple of groups with Travis Devall taking some to the Cabin Field and Colton Wilkins guiding and filming over at the North Tinkerfarm Field. They sloshed through and flushed the birds out of the soaked milo and prairie, coming back with most of the pheasant and one damp chukar.
Alex, Sam, Melvin, Ross and Nick Stock came out on late February, Sunday morning to hunt some pheasant. I think this was Nick’s first pheasant hunt and they all had plenty of action. Sam did the guiding, the video and some shooting. Sol and Ava did a nice job, and like all Stock hunts not many birds escaped.
Andy Erbe set up a pheasant hunt for five of his buddies. Jeff Powell got out his cocker, setter and shorthair to find the pheasants running around the Clubhouse Field. Lots of rises and lots of birds biting the dirt as some of them tried to pass through all six shooters.
