Sandy Run Hunt Co. and the Cumberland Chapter of the Quail and Upland Game Alliance held their annual Youth Pheasant Hunt on January 25th. Thirty young hunters got a chance to hunt for a couple of pheasant on a cold, blustery day. With wind gusts over 30mph the pheasants did not cooperate for everyone, but most hunters got an opportunity if not a pheasant or two to take home. There was plenty of clay target shooting, with over 500 targets shot at over the frozen ponds. Congratulations to Chase Horn, he won the drawing for a pheasant mount donated by Freedom Taxidermy.

Thanks to all the parents and friends who took the time to bring out the kids. Thanks for letting them have the opportunity to enjoy and learn from a day out in the field. I appreciate all the time and effort of the guides and their dogs which helped to make each hunters’ experience memorable.
I would also like to thank the Cumberland Chapter of the Quail and Upland Game Alliance for all their help and donations, Midwest Target Co. Litchfield, for providing the clay pigeons, Buchheit of Greenville for providing some of the prizes, County Market of Vandalia for their donation of hotdogs and buns, Freedom Taxidermy of Vandalia for donating a pheasant mount, Ritchey Painting of Vandalia for their donation of the use of an UTV.
