Kevin’s Triple Double

Kevin Diekroeger went out for a quail hunt with Penny and Ina.  There were three mini-coveys of five birds each.  Each covey had a nice rise and Kevin knocked down two on each, had the chance but just couldn’t get a triple.

Dwanye and Grayland Upland Bird Hunt

Dwayne Ritchey and Grayland Bolyard enjoyed a upland mix of quail, pheasant and chukar.  Mac and Sol did the dog work.  Really nice covey rise toward the end 10+ birds, but obscured by the sun.  Check out Grayland shooting left-handed due to a broken right hand.

    October Continental Shoot

    9:39 AM-2:00 PM
    10/19/2022-10/30/2022
    Sandy Run Hunt Co. Clubhouse
    1244 E 1600 Ave

The Sandy Run Hunt Co. Continental Pheasant Shoot simulates an European, driven hunt consisting of pass shooting.

The day will begin at 8:30 with morning snacks and coffee. Wobble trap will be available before the shoot for warming up.  The pheasant shoot will start after 9 am and be held in the Clubhouse Field. Pheasants will be released from a raised platform in the center of the field, with 12 to 16 shooting stations placed around the field.   A round of birds will be released, equal to the number of shooters. After each round we will retrieve the downed birds before moving to another shooting station for the next round. This will continue for 12 rounds and all shooters have had an opportunity at each station. We will have retrieving dogs available or you are welcome to bring your own.

After the hunt around 12:30 all the birds will be cleaned and divided equally among the shooters. Lunch will be served in the clubhouse..

There will be 12 pheasants released for each shooter and the hunt will be limited to 24 shooters.

This shoot includes morning snacks, trap practice, 12 released pheasants, cleaned and packaged birds and lunch after the hunt.

The cost is $250/shooter. You can also share a stand with one other hunter for $300.  Afternoon cleanup hunts are available at $25/hunter.   Fields will be assigned on a first come basis.

Participants are required to wear eye protection, blaze orange hats and vests. 12, 16 or 20 gauge shotguns are recommended.   Ammunition should be #6, high brass shells, no shot larger than #6 will be allowed for the Continental Shoot. It is suggested that you bring a minimum of 3 boxes of ammunition.
