Rusty Conner came out with his friends,, Nick Burrus and Ethan Fitzwilliam for an upland bird hunt on a a day that may have been a little too nice for bird hunting. I filled the Clubhouse Field for Travis Devall and his pups to find the pheasant, quail and chukar. After the birds settled down from their running, they had a good hunt and nearly came back with all.

Cameron Singler brought out his young brittany, Lola to hunt some pheasant and quail. I set some birds around the Tinkerfarm prairie and milo for the pair to find. Lola found them all plus some extra quail, nice hunt.

C.J. Spener came out with his family and friends, Jim, Chris, and Brian Favier, Logan and Dave Holder and Michele Ruppel for an upland bird hunt the morning after Thanksgiving. Travis Devall brought out his setters and pointer to find the birds in the Clubhouse Field. The morning was sunny, a little warm and the pheasants were on the move, but they found nearly all and came back with a nice pile of birds.

Cole and Eli Duke along with Shawn Garrett came out to walk off some turkey on an upland bird hunt. I filled the Clubhouse Field, twice, with quail, pheasant and chukar for the group to hunt. Colton Wilkins used his pair of dogs, Bama and Preacher, to do the guiding. They had a great afternoon in the field, lots of action and a bunch to take home for dinner.

Joe Jahraus came out with his buddy, Brian Horath for a quail hunt. I set some quail coveys around the timber finger in the Cabin Field. Colton Wilkins came up with his two dogs to guide the pair. Just as usual, when the coveys flushed, they flew towards the woods. Some of them made it. So, Joe, Brian, Preacher and Bama headed for some fun shooting, just like real quail hunting.

Shaun Lance brought out his shorthair, Remington and setter, Skeeter, to find some pheasant and chukar for his family and friends. Hunter and Matt Horn, Shane Mansker, Brian Clark and Dustin Lance joined in the hunt for the birds in the Clubhouse Field, Thanksgiving morning. They pardoned a few birds, but most were headed for the hunters’ feast.

Ted Ellis brought out his young setter, Mack for some work on quail. Carroll Richardson came along to shoot the birds and work his older brittany, Fred. Ted got his two older pointers, Jack and Rip out to hunt the leftovers. I got to film a bit of the hunt and even took a long shot at a fleeing quail.

Mark Mitchell and Gary Dodillet started their week of a right with a pheasant hunt on a gorgeous Monday morning. Mac and Sol got first crack at the birds in the Clubhouse Field, but had a tough time holding down the running fowl. The hunters picked up a few pheasants and I headed back to get Hildy and Ava. With some extra walking the girls were able to find and point the rest of the pheasant, including a triple rooster rise, where two roosters dropped.

Les Lamont set up a quail hunt for his buddies, Cody Comstock, Chuck Byers, and Roger Kingery. Les brought along his german shorthair, Ben to find the coveys of quail hidden around the Cabin Field. They hunted the north edge of the timber finger to hide from the gusty south wind. They had some nice rises and started to knock down 3 or 4 on the flush toward the end. They got back to their trucks just as it started to downpour ending their hunt just in time.
