Brad Shoults and Randy Rehkop, brought their dogs, Bud and Ellie for a quail hunt. I set some quail around the Tinkerfarm Field and got out there to record one rise. Good dog work they had a nice day in the field.

Kevin and Tommy Diekroeger sent last year out with a bang, with a two day quail hunt. Kevin brought his pair of dogs, Ina and Penny and Tommy brought out his Brittany, Abby to find the birds. The first afternoon they hunted some coveys around the Cabin Field timber finger, lots of good wood shooting. I missed completely with Kevin’s new gun and its sticky safety (that’s my excuse). The next morning I put a bunch of coveys around the Tinkerfarm Pond. They had a long morning knocking them around the prairie, timber and fencerows, but came back only lacking one out of 30.
John Cavaletto came out with Burl, his English Pointer, to hunt some quail just before New Years. I spread some quail all around the Clubhouse Field and Burl handled the big field like a pro. Except for one that wanted to run more than fly it was a nice, productive day in the field for the pair .
Brad Bickhaus set up an upland hunt for his sons and friends. Jeff Powell guided a group after the pheasant, chukar and quail I set out in the Cabin Field, while Steve Sanders took his pointers to the Tinkerfarm Field to get their birds. Brad and Trevor took Paisley, Trevor’s new springer out for a quail introduction. She did a great job finding the birds in light cover and Brad shot the last couple over her and we got to see her retrieve a few.
Jared West set up a hunt for his buddies, Jeff Zenthoeffer, Bob Buhlinger and Trevor and Adam Hubbs. Trevor brought his Red Setter, Jackson and Jeff Powell brought out his pups to find the pheasant, chukar and quail I set in the Clubhouse Field. Fun hunt for Jackson and the gang, and they brought back a bench full.
Phil Stock came out with his three sons, Ross, Sam and Alex to hunt some pheasant and chukar. The birds don’t stand a chance with this group out there. Jeff Powell guided the hunt with mostly Brittanys and his setter. I think the footage from this hunt is from Ross’s angle.
David Diecker started off the New Year hunting with his grandson, Connor. I set some pheasant and chukar in the Clubhouse Field and Jeff Powell brought out his Brittanys, Setter, German shorthair and maybe even a cocker in there to find, point and flush the birds. David and Connor made easy work of the birds getting up in shotgun range.
Dean, Travis and Chelsi Devall came out to run their herd of dogs on some birds I set out in the Cabin Field. Dean brought along his lab, Peaches and new pointer Cy, while Travis brought out his two setters, Zip and Patches, and his new pointer Sadie. Needless to say the birds didn’t have much a chance. (this video has been mostly edited for content, although some fowl language may still be present).
Nathan, Mitchell, Tony and Randy Jenkins came for a quail hunt and picked a gusty day. I stashed quail coveys behind windbreaks as much as possible at the Tinkerfarm Field. Travis Devall, brought out his setter pair, Patches and Zip to help him with the guiding. The windy weather got most of the coveys up and heading to the timber, but they had a few nice rises and lots of singles action.
Brian Cremeens came up from Florida to do some family visits and catch a pheasant hunt with us at Sandy Run. Colton Wilkins brought up his duo of dogs to find the birds. A little taste of a Midwest bird hunt before heading back down to sunny Florida.
