Charlie Durbin put together a breakfast meeting and upland bird hunt for Stan, Mike and Kyle Kuhns. Dr. Tanner Kirby, Charlie’s new veterinarian came out for his first bird hunt. Burl Brumfield brought out Lucy, Buck and Jack, English Pointers and did a great job with the guiding. After a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs and fried potatoes, the field got filled with birds while Charlie held a business meeting. Lots of action in this video, some nice covey rises and chukar flushes.
2014 Youth Pheasant Hunt Coming Up!
If you know a kid that would like to go hunting, I have a great opportunity for you. On January 25th from 9 to 4, we will be holding a Youth Pheasant Hunt in conjunction with the Cumberland Chapter of the Quail and Upland Game Alliance.
Each child goes to the field with a guide and dogs and hunt for 2 pheasants. Before they go hunting they get a door prize and do some wingshooting practice on clay pigeons. After the hunt there is chili, hotdogs and hot chocolate to warm up.
The kids have a great time and get all of that for only $25.
Reservations are required and space is limited so call me to get the time that you desire, 618 292 8680.
Bring out your own children, grandkids, nephews, nieces or neighbors kids. Help us introduce them into the fun of upland bird hunting.

Bill and Leander w/ Junior and Kate Quail Hunt
Bill Mock came out with his cousin Leander Greene for a quail hunt. We set out some mini-coveys and Junior and Kate the English Pointers found the birds. Check out the cover, recovering nicely from all the snow. They got all their birds, Bill even got a couple twice.
Glen, Brian, Dale and Steve Pheasant Hunt
Glen Valle set up a pheasant hunt for his buddies Dale Varner, Brian Dotzert and Steve Gaucheff. They were able to get it in before the big snow hit Saturday. Pheasants held pretty tight in the snow and Curly, Mac and Sol were able to find nearly all.
Dave and Conner, Pheasant and Chukar Hunt
Dave Diecker brought out his grandson Conner Diecker for a New Year’s Day hunt for pheasant and chukar. Curly, Mac and Sol found the birds and Conner had some nice shots on pheasants and chukar while Dave backed up when needed.
Robb, Jeff, Travis and Sue Upland Bird Hunt
Robb Frost got a chance to break in his new hunting vest when he set up a hunt with his pastor Jeff Michael and Jeff’s son Travis on leave from the Air Force. Sue got a real test with a mix of pheasant, quail and chukar stocked around the Tinkerfarm field. She did a great job and the hunters got almost all their birds and found a few extra.
Dwayne and Doo Quail Hunt
Dwayne had a nice little quail hunt to test out his new 28 gauge. Can’t hit clay pigeons with it, but knocks down about every quail that gets up. Doo got some nice points on all the singles after the flush.
Tom, Bob, John, Jack, Mac, Sean and Ed Upland Bird Hunt
Tom Lavelle brought out some family, Bob Lavelle, the Mullens, John, Jack, Mac and Sean along with his buddy Ed Jacobs for an upland bird hunt. Extremely cold start around 10 F, birds and the dogs were just not working right, but still we had a good hunt tracking down all the birds that were definitely on the run. Steve Sanders guided half the hunt with Rose and Sue and they chased birds around the cabin field, coming up with a bunch on a less than perfect day.
John, Jeff, Joe, Joe and Cameron Upland Bird Hunt
The Blythes and Withers came out for pheasant and chukar hunt. Mac, Sol, Curly and Doo all got a chance to help out. Some good shooting and a lot of fun in this video.
Blake’s Big Upland Bird Hunt
Blake Bickhaus gathered up his buddies, Brian Karcher, Jeff and Greg Schweizer, Brett Wessel, and Cody and Larry Kleiner for an upland bird hunt of pheasant, quail and chukar. Larry brought along his two german shorthairs and the group had a great time knocking birds out of the sky.
