I have both a male and female Hildy puppy looking for their new home. Here are some pics from our morning walk.
On the left is Jimmy, very wiry male, very close second to the pick male I am keeping (I have changed my mind more times than I can count). On the right is Lazzi, a little fuzzy faced female that is very rambunctious. Loves to retrieve.
They are a litttle over 8 weeks old and learning fast. Jimmy is getting close to being house trained. I have them priced at $800 now, but as they get house broken and more basic training their value will be increasing.
John McIntosh came down with his young setter, Binx to hunt some quail. I set out some mini-coveys down in the East Bottom Field and Binx found them all. He got some good work with the quail and John got to take some home for dinner.
Mike and Mark Kohler brought out their friend Joe Mansker and their pups, Gracie and Bailey for a pheasant hunt. I set out some big birds in the North Tinkerfarm Field for the labs to find and flush. Perfect condtions and nice hunt, good dog work on some running pheasant.
Shaun, Kodde and Dustin Lance brought out their two setters, Lucy and Gunner and shorthair, Remmy to hunt some pheasant and chukar along with Brian Clark and Jackson Mikesell. The pheasant didn’t play fair and got on the move early, but most of the chukar held and they came back with most and a bonus quail.
Brad Shoults and Randy Rehkop brought out their pointers to do some quail hunting in the Cabin Field. I set some mini-coveys in the prairie edges of the timber tip. The really cleaned up coming back with all their quail plus six more.
C.J. Spener set up his annual Thanksgiving, upland bird hunt for his family and friends. Brian and Jim Favier, Dave and Logan Holder, Amanda Master, Michel Ruppel, and Jeff Vaske joined him in the Clubhouse Field. Travis Devall got out his dogs to do the guiding on a wet, breezy morning. They did well on all the pheasant and chukar, coming back with most. The quail were a little tougher, keeping low and flying around the big group of hunters.
Ted Ellis came out with his buddy, Carroll Richardson to work, Fred, Jazz and Mack on some quail. I set out some singles in East Bottom Field for Ted to work the dogs and Carroll to knock down. Ted and the pups made some progress and Carroll knocked them down.
Jeff and Nick Fjelstul, Jeremy Bivens and Brad Schulze came out to hunt some pheasant and chukar. Jeff Powell guided them in the Clubhouse Field on wet, windy morning at the beginning of December. The wind got the pheasant up and moving, but the chukar held and the group came back with most.
Bob and Jason Dasenbrock came out to hunt some quail with Bob’s setters, Libby and Wilbur and Jason’s brittany, Evie. I placed some mini-coveys of quail around the East Bottom and Clubhouse Fields and the dogs preformed well, getting most of their quail and scoring a pheasant on top.
Zach and Jeff Rawlings came out for a pheasant hunt on wet, warm, windy day at the beginning of December. The pheasant were up and running around the Clubhouse Field when Jeff Powell got his dogs out to do the guiding. Despite the conditions, they still had opportunities at the birds and came back with most.
