Alex Huther and Mitch Huebner came over from southern Indiana to hunt some quail and pheasant. Jeff Powell brought out his pointer, setter and cocker to find and flush the pheasant and quail coveys I set around the Cabin Field. They had a nice hunt, bagging both their pheasant but not as successful on the quail. The fast flying birds quickly headed to the timber off the rise, to make for some fun woods shooting. I guess they enjoyed the hunt, they already booked their next trip.

AJ Brose set up a thank you hunt for some of his employees and friends, Britt Kyle, Travis Miller and Drew Guenther. AJ did it right with an all day hunt and a bunch of birds. The morning hunt started with some pheasant in the Cabin Field milo strips and one nice quail covey in the prairie. Jeff Powell guided the morning hunt, with Meg his cocker spaniel flushing the birds out of the thick milo patches. They came back to the clubhouse for some pulled pork sandwiches for lunch and then off the Clubhouse Field for some pheasant, quail and chukar hunting. Colton Wilkins brought out Preacher and Bama for the afternoon hunt. I brought out Hildy to help out later on and caught a few of the rises on camera. Pretty sure we wore out the group from Indiana out with about 7 hours in the field chasing birds.

Phil and Ben Hocher brought out their Boykin Spaniel, Jake, to work him on some chukar. This was Jake’s first time out for upland birds since his last training and an illness. By the second prairie strip in the East Bottom Jake was starting to listen and work well flushing the birds in range. He got better as the afternoon went on and Phil and Ben had a fun time in the field.

Dan Crunk came out with his friend Jim Rueter and I believe he had Ellie, one his pointers out to find quail coveyed up around the Cabin Field. I was able to see one of the rises and they knocked down a couple off the timber point, letting a few escape temporarily into the woods. Ellie must have been on because they pretty much cleaned out all the quail from the edges.

Bob Greten came out with his two pointers, Duke and Daisy, to do some work on chukar at the South Tinkerfarm Field. He worked the pups together and separately, giving each a chance at some of the birds. The trio came back with all their birds plus an extra pheasant, nice dog work.

Charlie, Ron, Brad and Griffin Diecker came out for a post-Thanksgiving upland bird hunt. Brad brought out his old pointer, Lincoln to help Mac, Sol and Ava find the pheasant, chukar and quail scattered around the Clubhouse Field. They picked a warm, sunny day and the birds were on the move, but we finally found them all and a bunch of action and some nice shots.

Jud Wilkins set up a family pheasant and chukar hunt while they were all home for Thanksgiving. Colton ran his pair of dogs and did a little backing up when birds tried to escape his direction. The Wilkins are not afraid to pull their triggers, there are some massive volleys, 8, 9, 10 shots at single and double pheasant and chukar. Only one pheasant got away, but they picked up a pair of leftover quail. Watch this video and you will see that the family that hunts together, laughs together.

Rusty Conner came out with his friends,, Nick Burrus and Ethan Fitzwilliam for an upland bird hunt on a a day that may have been a little too nice for bird hunting. I filled the Clubhouse Field for Travis Devall and his pups to find the pheasant, quail and chukar. After the birds settled down from their running, they had a good hunt and nearly came back with all.

Cameron Singler brought out his young brittany, Lola to hunt some pheasant and quail. I set some birds around the Tinkerfarm prairie and milo for the pair to find. Lola found them all plus some extra quail, nice hunt.

C.J. Spener came out with his family and friends, Jim, Chris, and Brian Favier, Logan and Dave Holder and Michele Ruppel for an upland bird hunt the morning after Thanksgiving. Travis Devall brought out his setters and pointer to find the birds in the Clubhouse Field. The morning was sunny, a little warm and the pheasants were on the move, but they found nearly all and came back with a nice pile of birds.
