East Bottom Field, Added Cover

The East Bottom Field has been partially farmed until this season. It has a new look, with the three prairie strips and prairie edge in the south portion now filled in by newly planted prairie. North of the ditch, there is an acre plus of tree plantings and additional new prairie.

Twenty plus acres of new cover that is going to allow this field to hunt much bigger and hold more leftover birds. I have encountered a couple of wild quail coveys already this fall.

The cover is going to be a little heavy until the first good freeze, but then this field will be a fun, challenging spot to hunt.

Red Setter x English Setter Pups

Jeff Marshall has 3 red setters x english setter pups available for sale. One male and two females. These dogs are out of his male, Radom. The sire is half red setter and half english setter. Jeff used Radom for hunting last season at Sandy Run and harvested 300+ birds over him. The dam is, Tuesday. She is 100% red setter, so the puppies are 3/4 red setter and 1/4 english setter and can not be registered. After two more generations of breeding offspring to red setters the pups could be papered as red setters.

Sire: Radom

Dam: Tuesday

The pups were 7 weeks old on September, 18 and are ready to go. These parents and grandparents are great hunters. All very steady and easily trained. Two of Radom’s litter mates are also guiding at Sandy Run. Jeff is asking for $200 each for the pups.

Give Jeff a call at 217-370-6176 with any questions or to set up a time to meet/pickup your new pup.

Thank you Feast – Mushroom Fest 2023

This was Kevin’s great day a few years back, nice gobbler and some loggerhead morels. We have not been able to repeat since, but finding a few shrooms now and getting closer to turkeys everyday.

So,coming up Saturday, April 29th, is the 22nd Annual Mushroom Fest. Let me thank you for all your patronage this season, come and enjoy some shrooms and dads. Gonna boil some crawfish and hopefully find a few morels to go along with some oyster, portabella and other mushrooms. Sandy Run Clubhouse at 5 pm or earlier if you want to try to find a few morels yourself.
