Chuck and Mike, w/ Lady and King, Quail Hunt

Mike and Chuck Bowles got together to work Mike’s two English Setters, King and Lady on some quail.  I placed some quail coveys in the East Bottom Field and the setters went to work pointing the coveys and singles.  They got the dogs some good work finding the singles scattered in the prairie strips and fencerows around the edge of the field.

Glay, Eric, Todd, Trenton, Jensen and Dakota, Upland Bird Hunt

Glay and Dakota McMillen came out with their friends, Todd and Jensen Bailey  and Eric and Trenton Rohrback for an upland hunt.  They brought along a mix of  four retreivers, Chester, Cy, Buddy and Jack.  The milo strips in the Tinkerfarmm Field are a great place to hunt flushing dogs so I filled them up with pheasant, quail and chukar.  They had a great time knocking down most of the pheasant and chukar but letting a few quail get to the timber and fencerows that surround the field.  After a nice long hunt  and tiring out 4 flushers, Chester a little early, they came back with almost all their birds.

Greg’s Birthday Hunt, w/ Michael, Gene and Daisy

Greg Ireland chose to celebrate his birthday in the field with his son, Michael and dad, Gene, and of course the amazing Daisy.  I set out some quail coveys and chukar in the Clubhouse Field and Daisy did a great job finding them.  The birds got scattered around and Gene even knocked down an unexpected pheasant.  Nice day in the field with the family enjoying a hunt before Michael gets deployed to Japan.

Kevin, Ina and Penny, Quail Hunt

Kevin Diekroeger brought his wirehair, Ina and setter, Penny for an afternoon quail hunt.  I set out three nice sized coveys around the edges of the Clubhouse Field, grabbed my gun, and we set to spend some quality time with the dogs.  A strong breeze got the coveys moving around, but we found all the birds and scattered them into the timber and fencerows.  I started off knocking down everything I pointed at but soon couldn’t hit anything.   Frustrating but a whole bunch of fun.

John, Larry and Harland w/ Burl, McCallister and Chance, Quail Hunt

John Cavaletto set up a quail hunt for his buddies, Larry Ackerman and Harland Scheibal.  John brought his pointer, Burl, Larry his German Shorthair, McCallister and Harland his Brittany Spaniel, Chance to find the quail coveys I scattered in the Clubhouse Field.  They had some nice rises, but soon the birds got spread around the large prairie field and fencerows.  Some really nice dog work, pointing and backing, on a fun day in the field.

Chris, Noah and Dylan w/ Ellie and Joy Pheasant and Chukar Hunt

Chris Tenllado brought out his two boys, Noah and Dylan for a chukar and pheasant hunt.  He also brought his German Shorthair, Joy to do the pointing and his yellow lab, Ellie to do the flushing.  I filled the milo strips on the north end of the Tinkerfarm with birds and they had an awesome morning hunt, so good they had to go back to the truck for more shells.

Russ, Troy and Scott, Upland Bird Hunt

Scott Staehnke set up an upland bird hunt for his friends, Russ Fischer and Troy Depew.  I set some pheasant, chukar and quail in the Clubhouse Field and Steve Sanders brought out Rose and Vince to find the birds.  After a successful morning hunt, we sat down for lunch and recharge before I restocked the field.  Then it was Mac and Sol’s turn to point the birds.  A nice afternoon in the field with a bunch of chukar doubles and quail covey rises  as well as chasing around some running, rooster pheasants.
