Rusty, Aaron, Nick and Ethan Upland Bird Hunt

Rusty and Aaron Conner came out with their friends Nick Burrus and Ethan Fitzwilliam for an upland bird hunt.  Greg Ireland brought out Daisy to do the guiding and I stocked the Clubhouse Field with a bunch of pheasants, quail and chukar.  Daisy and the hunters made easy work of most of the birds, but after a few hours, I brought out Mac and Doo to help find and clean up the few remainders.

Bill, Alan and Randy w/ Whip and Harley Quail and Pheasant Hunt

Alan Feezel brought out his new German Shorthair pup, Harley for his first hunt.  Bill Warix brought his Shorthair, Whip along with friend, Randy Gray.  Harley had a blast finding and chasing quail singles in the prairie strips.  Then he got to go along with Whip and the rest chasing pheasants through the milo strips at the north end of the Tinkerfarm.

Zac and Jake Upland Bird Hunt

Zac Collins and Jake Phillips got together for an upland hunt over at the Tinkerfarm Field.   Steve Sanders brought out Susie and Rose, his pair of pointers to do the guiding.   The dogs did their job, but it sounded like the hunters were a little off with their shots to start off.  After tracking down all the scattered birds, they ended up with a good number and fun day in the field.

Kermit, Nick and Jacob Quail Hunt

Kermit and Nick Doelling brought out their Weimaraner, Jacob for a quail hunt.  I put out some singles and doubles in the Cabin Field and the trio made the trek around to find them.    Jacob got a late start hunting and was not quite sure about the shooting, but loved the walk around the field on a nice day.

Dwayne, Jon, Amos and Dave Upland Bird Hunt

Dwayne Ritchey set up an upland bird hunt for his buddies, Amos Boggs, Jon Washburn and Dave Stokes.  I stocked the Clubhouse Field with pheasant, chukar doubles and quail coveys and we all headed out with Curly and Mac to hunt.  They picked a nice day and the birds and dogs cooperated to have good hunt.  Dave Stokes earned his new name, “The Cock Killer”, as rooster pheasants kept trying to escape his direction with no success.   Dwayne took out Doo and Yadi to hunt some more and came back with a few more pheasants and quail.

Robb, Matt and Susie Upland Bird Hunt

Robb Frost came out with his German Shorthair, Susie and buddy Matt Farras for a pheasant, quail and chukar hunt.  I placed some birds around the Cabin Field and Robb, Matt and Susie hunted them up.  This is Susie’s second year on birds and she has been chasing wild birds all season, so she did a great job hunting the prairie edges and timber around the Cabin Field and the crew cleaned up.

Tim, Josh, Angus and Briar Pheasant Hunt

Tim and Josh Ganley came out with their three Labs, representing the colors of the Lab rainbow, yellow, chocolate and black.  They chose to hunt the milo strips at the north end of the Tinkerfarm.  The three labs had a blast flushing a pile of pheasants out of the milo and the pair came back with most of their birds.

Alan, Jim, Jared and Jacob w/ Ledo and Bob Pheasant and Chukar Hunt

Alan Mettler brought out his sons, Jared and Jacob, and friend Jim Boehm for a pheasant and chukar hunt.  Jim brought his Brittany, Ledo, and pointer, Bob to do the guiding.  The day called for rain early, so we started out with pheasants stocked in the Clubhouse Field.  The hunters and dogs found nearly all while the rain held off, so I added some chukar sets.  Once the chukar were out the rain started and we headed back out to finish up.  The group was able to find and harvest all the chukars, an extra quail and almost all their pheasant.

Joe, Doug, Tim and Josh Pheasant and Quail Hunt

Joe Lawson set up a pheasant and quail hunt for his sons, Josh and Tim and son in law, Doug Forbes.  I stocked the Clubhouse Field with pheasants and some quail coveys and took Curly along to find the birds.  She did the job and the group got some pheasants and few quail.  We reloaded and traded in Curly for Mac and Doo to find the rest of the quail and the wayward pheasants.   Good job by the setters and the hunters as we brought back most of the birds.

Gene, Jim and Spec Quail Hunt

Gene Perkins set up a quail hunt for his friend Jim McCasland and Jim’s English Pointer, Spec.  They picked a wet morning, after an all day rain, but the mini-coveys of quail I stocked in the Clubhouse Field still flew well.  We chased quail around the field, across the bottoms, through the pasture and back to the clubhouse and came back with almost all.
